Website Maintenance Services
Most websites are not maintained. They are left alone until something visible breaks, and then repaired in a hurry by whoever is available.
That works until it does not. Core and plugin updates pile up until applying them is risky. A certificate expires. A form stops sending and nobody notices for five weeks. A vulnerability in something you did not know was installed gets found by someone who was looking.
We keep sites current, watched and backed up, with enough capacity in the arrangement to make the small changes you actually want — rather than only the emergency ones you do not.
What Maintenance Covers
Arrangements differ by site. These are the parts most of them include.
-
Updates and patching
Core, plugins, themes and dependencies, applied on staging first and then to production. Security advisories acted on rather than noticed. This is the part that prevents most of what goes wrong.
-
Backups you can actually restore
Scheduled, off-site, and tested by restoring them. An untested backup is a belief, not a backup.
-
Uptime and error monitoring
The site watched continuously, with alerts going to us. The point of monitoring is that we find out before you do, and before a customer does.
-
Security
Hardening, access review, malware scanning and vulnerability patching. Where a site needs more than routine attention, see performance and security.
-
Small changes and content requests
A new page, a price change, a staff photo, a form field. Included capacity rather than a separate quote each time, because a maintenance arrangement that only covers breakage means the small improvements never happen.
-
Performance
Keeping the site fast as content accumulates — caching, image handling, database health. Core Web Vitals watched rather than checked once at launch.
-
SEO hygiene
Broken links, redirects, sitemap and schema health, and catching the accidental noindex before it costs you three months of traffic.
-
Monthly reporting
What we did, what broke, what we are watching and what we think you should do next. In plain language.
When Teams
Come to Us
-
The agency that built it has gone quiet
Slow replies, then none. You may not have the hosting login, the domain, or the code. We have done this recovery before, including the awkward parts.
-
Nobody internally owns the website
It is somebody’s third priority. It works, mostly, and nobody is confident about any of it.
-
The site broke after an update
Something updated itself and took a page down. The fix is usually quick; the arrangement that prevents the next one is the actual product.
-
It is slow and getting slower
Years of content, plugins and images with nobody watching the trend.
-
You want someone responsible
Not a support ticket queue. A named arrangement with someone who knows your site.

How We Work
What the site is built on, what state it is in, and what is outstanding. This is the free part, and it is genuinely useful on its own.
Hosting, domain, repository, CMS, third-party accounts. Documented, because this is what is always missing when it is needed urgently.
What is included, how many hours, response times, and what counts as urgent. Written down before anything goes wrong.
Backups, monitoring, staging and a tested restore in place before the retainer really starts.
Updates, patching, monitoring, and the agreed capacity for changes.
Monthly, in plain language, including what we think should be done next.
What We Maintain
- WordPress sites, including heavily customised and inherited builds
- WooCommerce and Shopify stores
- Custom sites in PHP with Laravel, Node.js with NestJS, and Python with Django
- Static and Next.js front ends
- The hosting and deployment setup underneath, as we find it
Stores and sites with user accounts need more attention than brochure sites, and we scope them accordingly rather than pretending they are the same thing.
How We
Work Together
We work out the arrangement with each client individually. There are no public plans, because a five-page site and a store with ten thousand products do not need the same thing and should not be priced as if they do.
-
Maintenance retainer
Starting from five hours per month. Covers updates, backups, monitoring and a defined amount of change capacity. The hours and the response times are agreed with you before anything starts. -
Retainer plus development capacity
For sites that keep growing — new pages, new sections, campaign work — with reserved developer time each month so improvement does not need a new conversation every time. -
Recovery first
Where a site has been neglected for a long time, there is usually a one-off piece of work to bring it to a maintainable state before a sensible retainer can start. We quote that separately and honestly.Unused hours, rollover and what counts as urgent are all settled in writing at the start rather than becoming a conversation six months in.
Questions We
Get Asked
-
It starts from five hours a month and goes up with what the site needs. We do not publish plans, because a brochure site and a live store are not the same job. Send us the URL and we will tell you what we think yours needs.
-
Yes, and most of what we maintain is someone else’s work. It starts with the free audit so the arrangement reflects the real state of the site.
-
We will say so, and quote the recovery separately. Starting a retainer on a site that needs a month of remedial work first is how both sides end up unhappy.
-
We work with your hosting, and we will tell you if it is the problem. Where a move makes sense we manage it, but we are not trying to sell you hosting.
-
Agreed per client and written into the arrangement, with severity defined so both sides mean the same thing by urgent. A store losing orders and a typo on an about page do not need the same commitment.
-
You take everything with you — access, documentation, credentials. We hand over properly to whoever comes next.
